PSG Starlet Kimpembe Signs Contract Extension
Paris Saint Germain starlet Presnel Kimpembe has signed a new five-year contract extension with the club.
Kimpembe has become one of Europe’s hottest properties in recent weeks, establishing himself as a firm contender for a spot in PSG’s first team.
The youngster remains as the club’s third choice centre-back, behind Marquinhos and Thiago Silva. However, in the seven appearances he has made for the Paris club under Unai Emery this season, Kimpembe impressed so much that he was called up to the senior France national side for the first time.
His meteoric rise has prompted the Ligue 1 champions to act quickly and tie down the 21-year-old, with several big clubs hovering over the talent.
RMC Sport claim Kimpembe had initially demanded a wage increase of up to £223,000-a-month, but has agreed to sign a deal worth £151,000-a-month which could rise to £174,000 after potential bonuses.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United were all linked with a move for the youngster in January, but Kimpembe has rejected the chance to play in the Premier League in order to stay at PSG. He is determined to fight for his place and become the club’s first choice central defender now that he has signed a new long-term deal.
‘Extending my contract with the club where I learned my trade brings me a lot of joy,’ Kimpembe said.
‘I’ve been here since I was really little, so this extension means a lot to me. It’s a huge step forward. I’m really happy.
