Benjamin Henrichs is attracting interest from several top clubs in the Premier League.
According to German news outlet Bild, the Bayer Leverkusen starlet is a transfer target for top clubs such as Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United.
Henrichs has shot to fame in recent weeks, impressing with some solid displays at the back for the Bundesliga side. A natural full-back, the German youngster can play on either flank, and has earned some rave reviews for his rapid progress.
The 19-year-old is a graduate of Leverkusen’s academy, and has broken into the German club’s first team. He has already made thirteen appearances this season, with nine of them coming in the Bundesliga, and four in the UEFA Champions League. He has also completed the full 90 minutes in each of his appearances.
Chelsea and Manchester City have been keeping an eye on him since his stunning display for Germany’s Under-19 national side in a match in England a little over a year ago.
Henrichs admitted that he was aware of the clubs’ interest in him, saying: “English clubs were interested after a national match in England in September 2015 with the German U19s.”
So impressive has the youngster’s form been that he has now received his first call-up to Germany’s senior national side by boss Joachim Low. The teenager could make his full debut for his country in the upcoming games against San Marino or Italy.
