Bellerin Signs New Long-Term Contract With Arsenal
Arsenal have confirmed that Hector Bellerin has signed a new contract with the club.
While the club did not give out the details of the new contract, ESPN sources have claimed that Bellerin has signed a six-year deal worth £95,000 a week.
The defender has become a crucial player for the Gunners over the last couple of years, and his progress has seen him rewarded with a new long-term deal.
Bellerin signed for Arsenal in 2011 from Barcelona, and has not looked back since. He has grown at a rapid rate, and is now seen as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League. He made 44 appearances for the North London side last season, and even created 9 chances – the third most by any Arsenal player. His sensational performances also earned him a place in the PFA Team of the Year.
Several newspapers linked him with a move back to Barcelona in the summer, but he responded to the rumours, saying he would have remained at the Catalan club if he wanted to play for them.
Bellerin himself confirmed the deal on popular internet application Snapchat, saying he was really happy to be signing a new contract, and there was nowhere else he wanted to be.
Posting on Snapchat (@hectorbellerin), Bellerin said: “Hey guys, so like some of you know, I’ve just signed my new deal. I’m really really happy that this is happening. I’m so excited and I cannot wait for everything that’s going to come in the next few years.
“As you guys know, I’ve been here for a long time, so this is like my home now, so there’s nowhere else I want to be. Hopefully in the future, we can share a lot of success together, and I just can’t wait for what’s coming. So I want to say thank you to everyone for your support in the last few years.”
