Arsenal To Pursue Lingard If United Come Hunting For Ozil

If Manchester United ever believed luring Mesut Ozil away from the Emirates would be easy, they might just have to rethink it.

According to latest reports by the Sun, the London Club will not let Ozil go to Old Trafford unless they get their hands on Jesse Lingard.

The German playmaker’s contract expires next season, and as per rumours, United seem to be ready to swoop in and take him away. But with Lingard’s contract also expiring in 18 months, Arsenal also seem ready to engage in a transfer battle.

Lingard, aged 23, will reportedly be offered £120,000-per-week to move to North London.

Jesse Lingard has been a Manchester United raised and developed academy player, and it will be a tough task to take him away, especially for bitter rival teams.

Both players play the role of innovative quick passing football for their teams, and contribute heavily with assists and goals. While Lingard has an age and speed advantage, Mesut has experience and knows how to win.

Wenger and Mourinho are probably the two managers with most history between them in the Premier League, and their hatred for each other has always been vocal and evident.

If both of them are to lock horns in transfer battles, it will be tough to choose a winner. None of them would want the other to gain an advantage, not at their own loss to say the least.

With an experienced World Cup winning campaigner on one side and one of the best young emerging English talents on the other, it is going to be difficult to decide which team will have the upper hand if these rumoured deals turn out to be eventually true.
