The latest transfer news regarding Arsenal suggests that they are plotting a move to sign Torino striker Andrea Belotti.
As per reports, Arsene Wenger is ready to pay club-record £50m for Belotti, who is in hot form this season. The 23-year-old striker may emerge as a long term replacement for Giroud if the Gunners match his price tag.
In his second season with Torino in Serie A, Belotti has emerged as one of the stars this season. He has already scored 13 goals from 16 matches in the ongoing campaign. In August 2016, he was called up to Italy’s senior squad for the first time, and since then, he has had 5 outings for his country.
Wenger is reportedly monitoring Belotti’s situation at the Italian club, and is expected to sign him in the next transfer window. Both Manchester United and Chelsea are also rumoured to be linked with Belotti.
Even though Olivier Giroud has started contributing to the team’s success in recent weeks, the Frenchman’s consistency is still very doubtful. Wenger is hoping to find a perfect replacement for the 30-year-old forward.
In addition to that, series of injuries for Danny Welbeck have also been a serious concern for Arsenal. The former Manchester United player has now recovered from injury, and returned to first team action in yesterday’s FA Cup match against Preston. Arsene Wenger expects Welbeck to be a success in the second half of this season for Gunners.

According to the Sun, a source in Italy revealed: “Arsenal have an option for Belotti from Torino, and he is available for 60m Euros.
“That is to get him now before any other teams come in for him. But Arsenal will not pay that amount just yet. They will wait to see what happens with him this season, and think about moving for him again in summer.”
