Manchester United are in the ultimate rebuilding phase, with players being heavily linked with transfers to and away from the Old Trafford club under new management and refreshed winning ambitions.
Amidst numerous such reports, Sky Italia have recently claimed that Atalanta’s Franck Kessie is a new surprise target for the Red Devils. United are interested in signing the Ivory Coast International, but despite having made contact with the 20-year-old’s representatives, they have not yet submitted any formal offer.
This defensive midfielder was also a recent Chelsea and Everton target thanks to his consistent performances in the Serie A this season, which include a goal tally of 7 in 17 appearances.

Atalanta have already rejected a £15m bid from Everton earlier this window, and have valued the player at an estimate of £22m. According to Daily Mail, Chelsea were in ongoing talks with the Italian club, but the inclusion of Manchester United might change the picture of the player’s future and the deal involved with it.
Kessie is currently at his parent club at the moment following a successful loan spell with second tier Cesena last season. He has a contract which will keep him there until June 2021.
With Morgan Schneiderlin gone to Everton in this window, and other midfielders like Carrick and Schweinsteiger battling with age and Fellaini not being consistent, Kessie might be an ideal player to fill the gaps in the United team and help Mourinho and his men get back to the top in no time.
