It would be one of the most shocking transfers of the January window, but the Sun claim Sevilla are “desperate” to sign Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United.

Rashford has received decent game time this season, though Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s stunning form suggests there would be little chance for the youngster to start as a centre-forward under Jose Mourinho for the rest of the season.

However, the 19-year-old has shown another side to his excellent talent recently, by proving to be quite effective on the left wing, and that shows why the likes of Sevilla, along with West Ham, are willing to make him the focal point of their attack.

Sevilla’s director of football, Monchi, kept a close eye on the United star since he burst into the senior United squad last season.

However, Mourinho remains a big fan of the youngster, and has even tipped him to surpass Wayne Rooney’s soon-to-be record goal tally for Manchester United.

Jose recently stated: “Marcus, he is 19, if he plays at Manchester United until the end of his career, maybe Marcus can do it, but Rooney scored a lot of goals.

“I don’t know the distances, really, but I think the ones that are close to the record are players that have left United already. So, especially in modern football, I see it as being really difficult.”

Rashford will look to force his way into the starting eleven when United play Liverpool in a highly anticipated Premier League encounter on Sunday.
