Robben Signs One-Year Contract Extension At Bayern
Bayern Munich have confirmed that Arjen Robben has signed a 1-year contract extension with the Bavarian giants.
His contract was all set to end at the conclusion of the ongoing season, but the former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger is now tied to the Bundesliga champions until June 2018.
Robben joined team-mates Franck Ribery, Robert Lewandowski and Rafinha as he agreed on the new terms with the club during Germany’s winter break.
“I am happy that I will be playing another year at FC Bayern,” the 32-year-old told the club’s website. “The club is one of the best in the world and Munich has become a second home for me and my family. I want to continue to play at the top level and win as many titles as possible.”
After agreeing on terms with the 32-year-old for another year, CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: “Arjen is one of the best players in the world in his position. He’s been at Bayern for almost eight years and has become an integral part of our club. We are very pleased that he’ll wear our colours for another year.”
Robben has netted 6 goals in 14 matches for Carlo Ancelotti’s team this term, as Bayern continue their fight for a fifth successive league title.
The Dutch international joined Bayern in 2009 and has already won five Bundesliga titles, four DFB-Pokal Cups and the Champions League. He has 82 goals in 152 Bundesliga appearances, and 21 goals in 53 Champions League games for Bayern.
