Arsenal Eye Milan Striker M’Baye Niang As Potential Sanchez Replacement
Italian news outlet Mundo Deportivo has now linked Arsenal with a surprising bid for Milan striker M’Baye Niang.
Not only that, Arsenal have reportedly identified Niang as Alexis Sanchez’s potential replacement if the Chilean leaves in the summer. Sanchez is currently in the middle of a contract dispute, with his current deal expiring in the summer of 2018.
The Gunners are apparently keen to sign the striker, who is to some extent enjoying a renaissance under Vincenzo Montella at AC Milan.
Although, considering the level of attacking depth in Wenger’s squad, it’s not likely that Niang would find regular minutes unless there are more outgoings in the attacking department.
The former Caen youth player once apparently had a trial at Arsenal when he was a teenager before joining the Italian giants on a long term deal.
Following a series of loans and unconvincing seasons in red and black, Niang is finally showing his potential this season with some exceptional performances on the right wing and up front for Montella’s men. The way he is improving, Arsenal would do well to finalise a deal before other clubs start to come up with their own bids.
Niang is known for his brilliant pace and dribbling skills, and after years of underperforming in front of the goal, he finally looks to be working on his finishing too.
With 3 goals, 3 assists and 15 chances created for the Milan this season, it’s quite clear that the 22-year-old is trying hard, but hasn’t been able to get the consistency to match up his talent and potential so far.
