Depay Wishes For Barcelona Move
Memphis Depay has asked his agent to enquire about the possibility of joining Barcelona, according to reports from Diario Gol via Daily Star.
The Manchester United player is being courted by a number of teams after it was clear he wanted to leave. After signing for the Red Devils in 2015 for £25 million, Depay has failed to live up to the promise he had shown in the Netherlands. Current manager Jose Mourinho is no big fan either, handing the Dutchman only 7 appearances this season, in which the winger failed to score even a single goal.
Among the clubs looking to grab him are Lyon, AC Milan, and Everton. Even though Ligue 1 side Lyon seem the front-runners, no deal has yet been agreed upon. The report from Diario Gol says that the 22-year-old would be happy to join Lyon.

Yet, he seems to be targeting bigger things. He has reportedly ask his agent to see if Spanish giants Barcelona would wish to sign him. With Barcelona having a proper first XI already, it is clear Depay is ready to be a backup at Camp Nou. This move would see him as fourth-choice behind Messi, Neymar and Suarez, and Paco Alcacer would get pushed further down the pecking order.
The Catalans have rejected the request though, happy with their £26m-rated Alcacer. Depay will now be hoping that Lyon quickly close a deal with United. They did offer £13m plus bonuses latest, but it has been rejected. Depay will not lose heart though, as both sides are keen on the transfer, and it will most certainly go through.
