Manchester United have not been away from transfer rumours this season and if the latest report from The Sun is to be believed, then they are currently showing a great interest in Monaco’s 22-year-old fullback Benjamin Mendy.

With TMW backing Napoli to sign the young defender this summer, new reports and beliefs have risen that Red Devils are in the race too. This move seems understandable with Mourinho facing fullback shortages and problems in that area.

The young player was contacted by Arsene Wenger last season to be invited to London but he chose AS Monaco instead.

With Luke Shaw troubled by injuries and not fitting as a part of Mourinho’s plans, Mendy might be the answer Mourinho is out there searching for.

The former Marseille player has impressed a lot of spectators this season with tremendous performances in his role and attraction from the Red Devils is a heavy reward for the youngster.  It is fair to say that if Napoli and Manchester united went head to head for the player, one would favour the English side to win that duel.

With Antonio Valencia recently extending his United contract, it is clear that their right back position is under control but it is the opposite flank that needs looking into and Mendy can be one for the future to make that spot his own at the biggest stage in England.

Mandy has represented his nation at the under 16 and under 17 level and is currently 22 years of age and contains a good blend of youth, pace and aggression fit enough to be a part of the premier league.
