Twitter Reacts To Rooney’s Record-Breaking Goal
Wayne Rooney created history on Saturday by scoring his 250th goal for Manchester United in all competitions, and thereby becoming the club’s all-time top goal scorer.
The Red Devils’ captain scored a goal against Stoke City in extra time to tie the game up at 1-1, and singlehandedly helped United secure a crucial point.
Following the draw, Rooney spoke to the media, stating: “It’s a great honour – I’m very proud. It’s difficult at the minute to be over-pleased because of the result – two points dropped. But in the grand scheme of things, it’s a great honour.
“It’s something I never expected when I joined the club. But I’m delighted and I’m very proud. It’s been great – we’ve been very successful and there’s more to come. I’m proud to play for this club and to be the all-time top scorer is a huge honour and is something that will live with me for the rest of my life.”
And like Rooney, the club fans as well as the Englishman’s teammates were delighted with the goal too, and congratulated the 31-year-old via social media.

Watched an 18 year old Wayne Rooney score a hattrick against Fenerbache in 2004 and never thought I'll see this day. Take a bow son. Tears.
