With a decent run of results recently, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United have started their journey to a place in the top-4 in the points table this season.

The manager spent record fees for top transfer targets in the recent summer but he is evidently unhappy with the squad at his disposal and has been looking at a few other players from around Europe to improve the quality in the squad.

So it does not come as a surprise when reports suggest that he missed out on one of his top transfer targets before the start of the season.

According to a story run by the Globo Esporte, Chelsea’s inform winger Willian was at the top of the transfer wish list for Jose Mourinho in the summer.

The manager bought in the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to the team at the start of the season and the Brazilian winger has now revealed that Mourinho was desperate for his signature in the summer.

Speaking to the media in a recent interview, Willian revealed that there was a definite interest from Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford and that he was not ready to exit the Stamford Bridge yet.

‘Concrete I do not know, right? But there was interest, yes,’ he said during an interview with Globo Esporte.

‘It was (from) Manchester United, because Mourinho is there too,’ he added.

Recent reports suggested that Willian could be the next hot prospect in China but the winger has now revealed that he is happy with life under Antonio Conte at Chelsea.

‘Other clubs I do not know, but there are always some things on the internet. But I’m glad to know that clubs have to admire my work,’ he said.

‘I do not know if I would or not. What I can say is that I’m happy at Chelsea, I feel very good there, as if it were my home,’ he added.

With 7 goals from 23 games for Chelsea this season, Willian is an important part of the plans for Conte at the Bridge and it does not look like he will be on the move anytime soon.

Do you think Willian would have been a success at the Old Trafford?
