Manchester City target Caglar Soyuncu has publicly expressed his desire to play for current Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho instead.

Soyuncu, a complete and modern centre-back who currently plays for Bundesliga side SC Freiburg, not only excels at defending, but also at building the play from the back – a quality which seems to have attracted Pep Guardiola’s attention.

The young defender is believed to be close to signing for Manchester City after recent reports revealed that talks between the English club and the Turk’s representatives are currently ongoing. Furthermore, the 20-year-old’s agent, Mustafa Dogru, even confirmed these rumours in a recent interview with Turkish Football News.

Dogru was quoted as saying: “Manchester City have made contact to us through a third party. Caglar is the type of defender that suits Pep Guardiola’s style and his goal is to play Premier League football but he is focused on Freiburg until the end of the season.”

However, Soyuncu has instead issued a come-and-get-me plea to the Citizens’ arch-rivals Manchester United, after the Turkish international revealed that he is a huge admirer of the Special One and his philosophy.

“I admire Jose Mourinho, not just his football but his philosophy. I would like to work with him in the future,” the youngster claimed.

Mourinho could certainly do with a young CB at the Old Trafford outfit, especially after failing to sign Victor Lindelof from Benfica in the winter transfer window. However, the Swede continues to be linked with Manchester United, but the speculation involving him will surely reach its climax if the Red Devils end up responding to Soyuncu’s latest plea instead.
