Mkhitaryan: I’d Have Joined Anzhi Makhachkala If I Wanted Money
Manchester United star Henrikh Mkhitaryan has hit out at Dortmund fans who claimed that he moved to Old Trafford for money.
The Armenian told Sport Bild (via M.E.N) that if he indeed wanted only money, he would have transferred from Shakhtar Donetsk to Anzhi Makhachkala instead of Germany.
Mkhitaryan had moved to Manchester United in the summer, for £30m, after spending three years at Borussia Dortmund. He had initially found game time hard to come by, as the Manager Mourinho had then said that he was being given time to adapt to the Premier League.

But Mkhitaryan has come back into the team in remarkable fashion. He has scored 5 goals so far, including one extraordinary scorpion kick. The star forward, though, has been criticized by some Dortmund fans as greedy.
Responding to that, Mkhitaryan said, “I can not understand that, and that’s wrong.
“If it were just about money, I would have transferred from Shakhtar Donetsk to Anzhi Makhachkala and not to Borussia Dortmund. But I did not want that. I wanted to develop further,” he said.
Mkhitaryan was shining at Shakhtar Donetsk before Jurgen Klopp convinced him to joined Borussia Dortmund. He developed into a fantastic player he was at the Ruhr area club, before switching to England.

After making his way back into the team, he is also happy that Bastian Schweinsteiger is also back from the cold. “I’m glad he got another chance. He knows exactly what needs to be done on the pitch. I can only report positively about him, because he has a great character,” he said about the former Germany captain.
Mkhitaryan and Schweinsteiger had played against each other previously in the Bundesliga. Schweinsteiger was playing for rival club Bayern Munich when ‘Micky’ was at Dortmund.
