Jose Mourinho Initiates Personal Contact With Barcelona Star Neymar
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has initiated personal contact with Neymar in the hopes of signing him this summer.
According to Sport, the Portuguese tactician made a phone call to the Barcelona star a few weeks ago, enquiring if the 25-year-old would be interested in leaving the Camp Nou outfit to play for the Red Devils in the Premier League.
Following Antoine Griezmann’s recent comments, wherein the Frenchman revealed his desire to achieve better things and continue creating history with Atletico Madrid, Mourinho is believed to be worried as to whether the Euro 2016 top scorer would actually make a move to the Theatre of Dreams at the end of the season.
Jose has therefore identified Neymar as the perfect alternative for Griezmann, and will now make the Brazilian sensation his topmost priority signing for the upcoming transfer window.
This isn’t the first time Mourinho has expressed his interest in signing Neymar. The 54-year-old, when in-charge of La Liga giants Real Madrid, had contacted the Brazil international’s representatives back when he was still a Santos player, but the Los Blancos ended up losing the bidding war to arch-rivals Barcelona.

Mourinho currently seems to be worried about his team’s lack of goals, and their heavy reliance on the ageing star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic to find the back of the net. At present, no other player except the Swede has crossed double figures in terms of goals for Manchester United, and Jose believes signing Neymar would definitely result in a drastic change in these statistics.
The aforementioned report further adds that Mourinho has been in regular contact with Neymar, as personal conversation has always been his way of negotiating transfers and convincing his targets to join his teams. And with humongous financial resources now available to him, the Special One will do whatever it takes to sign the Brazilian this time around.
