Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho wants to sign Nemanja Matic and Willian from Chelsea, according to latest reports.

The Sunday Mirror claim the two Chelsea stars top Mourinho’s summer shortlist to bolster United’s midfield options ahead of his second season in charge at Old Trafford.

However, the story further states that Mourinho will not get much success in luring the Chelsea pair to Manchester, with Antonio Conte likely to be reluctant to let go them to direct Premier League rivals.

Speaking earlier this month, Willian revealed that Mourinho wanted to bring him to Old Trafford last summer.

“There was interest, yes,” the Brazilian told Globo Esporte.

“From Manchester United, because Mourinho is there.”

Meanwhile, Nemanja Matci is becoming a little upset for the lack of recognition he gets now as whenever he is asked to do an interview, he is only asked about team-mates. But Matic’s contribution to the Blues’ renaissance this term should not be underestimated.

It’s true among other Chelsea players his form deteriorated last term but this season, under Conte’s 3-4-3 system Matic has rediscovered his rhythm partnering N’Golo Kante.

Not only these two Chelsea stars, Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is also a potential target for the Red Devils as Mourinho has already began to chalk out his plans for the summer transfer window.

It’s believed Mourinho thinks he would be able to get the most out of the Arsenal midfielder if he could eventually convince Chamberlain to make a switch to Old Trafford.

Manchester United were one of the Premier League’s biggest spending clubs last summer, as they successfully completed gigantic deals to sign Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
