Man United broke the world record to get French midfield sensation Paul Pogba back to the Old Trafford at the start of the season but that was not the only deal that Mourinho was ready to spend a record sum on.

The Red Devils have been linked to some of the best players in Europe at the moment a recent report suggests that they missed out on signing one Thomas Muller at the start of the season.

The German international is an integral part of the squad for his club and country and is one of the most exciting players in his position at the moment.

He is settled at the Allianz Arena currently but Jose Mourinho was determined to lure him to the Old Trafford in the summer.

Bayern Munich financial partner Jan-Christian Dreeson today revealed that the German outfit rejected a mega-money bid from Manchester United for Thomas Muller in the summer.

Speaking to the media recently, Dreeson revealed that United made an official bid of around £85m and that the German outfit were not ready to even listen to their offer.

When asked if the offer was in the region of £85million, Dreeson said: “There really was something like that.

“Then came a fax from England. For us, however, a sale of Thomas Müller was never discussed. If a player fits us, we would be stupid to give him a short-term prospect of a record profit and to weaken him.”

The German has ever since been linked sparsely with a move to the Premier League but with Bayern on their way to yet another title, and also going strong in the Champions League, there is hardly any reason for the 27-year old to be shifting his club anytime soon.

Do you think Thomas Muller would have been a good addition for Manchester United?
