Jose Mourinho Provides Team News For United’s Crucial Clash Against Rostov
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has revealed the team news for their Thursday’s Europa League clash against FC Rostov.
Having drawn the first leg of this Round 0f 16 tie that took place in Russia 1-1, the Red Devils are all set to host Rostov at Old Trafford for the second leg, in their bid to proceed through to the quarterfinals of the competition.
However, the Portuguese has revealed that club captain Wayne Rooney as well as Anthony Martial are set to miss out due to injuries, whereas Zlatan Ibrahimovic remains available for selection in Europe.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Jose stated (via Guardian): “Martial missed the Chelsea game through injury and if you cannot be selected for a Monday night game you are also injured for the Tuesday training session.
“Martial is out of my mind, Rooney is still in the medical department after taking a kick in his knee, so we have the same players we had in the last match plus Ibrahimovic.”

Mourinho also stressed on the importance of the winning the Europa League for Manchester United this season, and also expressed his hope that the home fans will help the team spur on towards victory on Thursday night.
“The Europa League is a very important competition for us, we said that right from the start,” he added.
“Several things went against us in the last game: first we had to play on a Monday, second we had to play with 10 men, and third was to have a promenade on the M6 [United’s intended flight from Heathrow did not materialise and the squad had to return home by coach].
“The fans know that, and against Rostov we believe they will give us extra energy to fight to reach the quarter-final.”
We expect good results towards the up coming fixtures. Let the players and the coach not to upset the fans. Winning is the mentality. Go for it then.
