United Flop Memphis Depay Takes Dig At Jose Mourinho

Memphis Depay is quite confident he will rediscover his best form and make sure Jose Mourinho will one day regret selling him in January.

The Dutch winger foud it difficult to make an impact during his 18 months at Old Trafford, especially under Mourinho who had inherited the former PSV man from his predecessor Louis van Gaal.

Memphis’ arrival at Manchester United was much publicised considering the 23-year-old’s reputation then, having won the Eredivisie with PSV and finishing as their top scorer in the preceding season.

Depay couldn’t manage to start a single Premier League fixture this season and was eventually sold to French champions Lyon during the January transfer window in a deal worth around £15 million.

But the scenario has completely changed now, the 23-year-old has made a brilliant start to his career with the Ligue 1 outfit, netting five times in his last six matches, including an unbelievable effort from the centre circle in last weekend’s 4-0 win against Toulouse.

Depay’s recent form shows why Manchester United were desperate to insert a buy-back clause in his contract and although the Lyon attacker insists he harbours no hard feeling towards Mourinho, he thinks he was left in the dark as to why he wasn’t given more opportunities to impress.

“I didn’t understand. But he’s the boss. I was just not good enough for him. That’s OK. I’ll show my quality here,” he told beINSPORTS.

Lyon will be hoping that Memphis continues his fine run of form as they travel to Paris to play PSG in Ligue 1 on Sunday.
