PSG’s Odsonne Edouard In Police Custody After Shooting Incident
Paris Saint-Germain star Odsonne Edouard is in police custody after allegedly shooting a passer-by in the face, according to French media.
The 19-year-old is rumored to have been caught on CCTV in his car just moments before someone fired an Airsoft pellet at the head of an innocent civilian. The incident happened on February 11, and the gunshot has apparently damaged the victim’s ear.
However, Edouard has rejected the allegation, claiming he had lent his car to a friend for that day, and wasn’t present even at the time of the gunfire. The police haven’t yet disclosed the identity of the shooter.
The problem is, it’s not only off the pitch the young lad has struggled either. Edouard has only scored one goal for Ligue 1 team Toulouse this season, despite making 17 appearances across all competitions, as the club sits 12th in the league table with just 9 wins from their 30 matches.
The Guiana-born attacker arrived at PSG in 2011, after emerging through the youth ranks at AF Bobigny. But after failing to make it to the first team, with only a few ‘B’ team appearances in 2015-16, he was sent on a season-long loan to Toulouse.
Edouard has also played for France at the Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level, while helping the PSG youth team to the runners-up spot in the 2015-16 UEFA Youth League.
The 19-year-old was once regarded as the next big thing, having topped the scoring chart at the UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship, and also winning the Golden Player award in the process.
