Former Red Devil Patrice Evra has revealed that he advised Paul Pogba to make a sensational return to Manchester United.

Patrice Evra and Paul Pogba spent two seasons together at Juventus, where the duo won five major accolades, including two Serie A titles. The pair also represented the French National Team together, and were inseparable during their time together in Turin.

However, both the players have since moved on from Italy, with Patrice Evra recently moving back to his homeland and joining Olympique de Marseille, after Paul Pogba’s record-breaking return to Manchester United last summer.

And now, Evra has revealed that he played a part in convincing the 24-year-old midfielder to return to the Theatre of Dreams.

In an interview with FourFourTwo, the decorated left-back revealed: “I told him that if he was going to leave then he should join United.

“Juve is a great club and I would have been happy if he’d stayed with us, but I said Man United is a massive opportunity for him. Paul is like a brother to me and I want the best for him.”

The 35-year-old, who was as good as a mentor to Pogba during their time together, also issued a warning to the haters who consistently try their best to dissuade the world’s most expensive footballer.

“I will kill people who want to take advantage of him or try to do something bad. Paul’s got a really good heart,” Evra continued.

“If he has a bad game, people criticise him for what he does on social media or his haircuts, but he won’t change. He thinks for himself and acts for himself.

“I don’t want his image coming before his football, and although I’m not worried that will happen, I’m scared other people hope it does so they can criticise him like they did with David Beckham.”
