Sky Sports’ Pundits Pick Their Premier League Signing of the Season
Sky Sports pundits Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, and Graeme Souness have picked Manchester United’s Zlatan Ibrahimovic as their Premier League Signing of the Season.
The Swedish superstar joined the Red Devils on a free transfer last summer, and has since been in blazing hot form for the Mancunian club. Despite being 35 years old at present, the striker has scored 28 goals in all competitions for the Old Trafford outfit.
Zlatan has not only contributed with goals and assists, but his mere presence on the pitch has definitely helped Manchester United, and his impact on the club has led to the aforementioned pundits labeling him as their Premier League Signing on the Season.
Current pundit and former Liverpool man Graeme Souness revealed why he picked Zlatan, by telling Sky Sports: “I said at the start of the season Zlatan has to play well and be the main man for United, and that’s how it has turned out.
“I’d make him my player of the season simply because he is 35 years old and has single-handedly kept them in lots of competitions. I love his attitude because he gives a calming effect to the lesser lights – ‘Do not worry, Zlatan’s here’.
“And he has dragged United into a healthy position, they have won one trophy already and I would imagine in the dressing room he is fabulous. I love someone who can back up what he says and he can certainly do that.”
Jamie Carragher, another ex-Liverpool player, stated: “There were always questions surrounding Ibrahimovic because he never quite did it against English teams in Europe. But he’s now done it at 35, keeping United in contention for the top four, with a trophy already in the bag, and he may win another in the Europa League.”
Lastly, former Red Devils’ captain Gary Neville added: “Ultimately he’s been the best signing. He’s given the players and the club a lot more confidence.”
Meanwhile, pundits Thierry Henry and Alan Smith selected Liverpool’s Sadio Mane as their signing on the season, whereas Niall Quinn ended up picking Chelsea’s David Luiz.
