Wayne Rooney has accepted that his Manchester United career is all but over.

The England and Manchester United captain is ready to make a move away from Old Trafford, but it will cost United around £20 million to get him off the books.

Manager Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem overly interested in slotting the Englishman into his squad, and Rooney will have to find another club for more playing time.

After a move to the Chinese Super League fell through in January, he is looking to move in the summer.

His boyhood club Everton have shown clear signs that they would welcome him back to Goodison Park, and are willing to pay Rooney £120,000 a week.

The transfer though is going to cost United more than they expected, as the No.10 is due more than £31m in wages over the remaining years of his contract, reports The Sun. The skipper is reportedly going to demand the Old Trafford management around £20m as compensation.

That might seem necessary to end his 13-year career on not so sour note.

Meanwhile, same report suggests that Jose Mourinho is planning to sign Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann as well as Everton’s Romelu Lukaku in a swoop worth £160m.
