Jurgen Klopp believes Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United can do what his Liverpool side failed to do last season – win the UEFA Europa League.

The Red Devils are in a decent position in the Europa League, taking an away goal from their trip to Brussels in the Round of 16 tie of the competition last week. They are expected to get the work done against Anderlecht at Old Trafford in the second leg later this week.

With not too many high-profile clubs left in the competition, Manchester United are one of the favourites to go all the way this season, and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp feels the same.

Speaking to the media recently, Klopp claimed that Manchester United have a great chance of lifting the decorated trophy this season.

“Manchester United have a tremendously well-assembled squad. They are very likely to reach the Europa League final, so we’ll then see how many key players they still have available,” the German tactician told Sport1.

However, he was quick to talk about the injury issues that might affect the team in their run in the Europa League.

He added: “They have already got injury problems. But with their extensive squad, they have been able to react to pretty much everything that has come their way. Recently they have had four or five players out injured and Henrikh Mkhitaryan was not used in the early stages of the tournament.”

Klopp also went on to talk about the depth and quality in their squad, and felt that it might be enough for them to lift the Europa League this season.

“You can tell from that just how much quality they possess from the outset. United have a mix of experience, pace and quality. They are truly a good team. And to my mind they are favourites to win the Europa League,” he concluded.
