As if Ander Herrera wasn’t already a favourite among the faithful Manchester United fans, the midfielder has further done his reputation added favours, as he has recently urged David De Gea to stay at Old Trafford and wave away interest coming in from Real Madrid.

Marca had recently reported that the goalkeeper had agreed a long-term deal with the La Liga giants, and was forcing a way out of Manchester, but these rumours were soon dismissed by the English media.

While speaking to Marca about De Gea’s future with the Red Devils, Herrera was quick and direct to respond, saying: “He is the best goalkeeper of the Premier for me and for many people. He was again named the best goalkeeper in the league (2016/17 PFA Team of the Year), and that is already four years.

“He’s been at the club for six years. He is very close to Edwin Van Der Sar in games played, and can become a legend. People here love him very much. There are few goalkeepers in the world who give you points and David is one of them.”

The 26-year-old Spaniard is United’s main man, and has already played a massive 267 matches for the Reds, over taking Van Der Sar’s 266 for the club.

The fans love De Gea with all their heart, and with a Spanish connection at United alongside Herrera and Juan Mata, they would hope it will be enough to keep their prized asset away from Real Madrid – a club they still can’t forgive for taking away Cristiano Ronaldo.
