Manchester United To Offer Daley Blind A Contract Extension
In what will come as a surprising news for Manchester United fans, the club is now set to offer a new contract to Daley Blind.
The Red Devils have a strong squad at their disposal this season, but head coach Jose Mourinho is convinced that there is not much quality in the squad at the highest level. This has seen him look for some of the best players in the transfer window, but Mourinho is also keeping an eye on players at the club, who he might need in the future.
The Portuguese manager is planning a clear-out at the end of the season, where he will let a number of underperforming players leave to make way for superstars. But one player who might not be a part of this exodus is Daley Blind.
Arguably one of the most versatile players in England at the moment, Blind was not in the plans of the manager at the start of the season, but after a long list of injuries to the first-team players, the Dutchman has had to act as a makeshift center-back off late, much like in the previous season.
In fact, Blind has been so impressive in this role, that Mourinho has now added him to his plans next season.
According to reports from The Daily Star, Daley Blind will be offered a new contract before the end of the season, as Mourinho wants him to stay beyond this campaign.
The Red Devils are already planning to add to their backline, but the Portuguese tactician is reportedly impressed with the improvement in Blind’s dedication and performances recently, and wants him to be a part of his squad to add depth when needed.
The Holland international has less than 12 months left on his contract, so this move could also serve the purpose of pushing his price up, but irrespective of the hidden agendas, Blind appears close to signing a new deal with Manchester United.
