Spurs are adamant on not giving up their star players despite the stadium switch, and they will straight away be rejecting a £40m approach for Eric Dier.
Sportsmail had reported earlier in March that Manchester United are preparing a £40m bid for the Tottenham player. However, Spurs have turned defiant, as they will be rejecting the Red Devils’ bid straightaway.
Jose Mourinho had shortlisted Dier as one of his targets to bolster the squad in summer. The Portuguese was hoping that the transition phase at Tottenham will compel them to sell their star players, but it hasn’t been the case, as Spurs remain confident of keeping Dier at his existing £50,000-a-week deal.
The Englishman has been ever-present in the Tottenham side that finds itself in the 2nd spot in the Premier League. Dier has featured 45 times already this season, scoring 2 goals in the process.
Manchester United will look to lure Dier by offering him astronomical wages, especially because Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy, recently stated that there will no pay raises at Tottenham in the near future because of the stadium situation.
However, inside sources say Spurs are calm regarding the Dier situation, as they believe that the versatile defender will not be swayed away.
Many pundits have predicted that this summer will be a turbulent period for Tottenham, as their star players are on many European giants’ radars. Spurs will do well if they manage to keep their team intact, and add to it. Kyle Walker, Dele Alli, and Toby Alderweireld are among the other players linked with transfers away from Tottenham.
