Jose Mourinho has targeted Chelsea man Nemanja Matic as a replacement for Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier for a move this summer.

The Red Devils have been busy looking for top transfer targets already, and have been linked with some of the best players in Europe. The manager is looking for a world-class midfielder to add to his squad, and has been linked with a move for English international Eric Dier.

The versatile midfielder, who currently plays at White Hart Lane, is reportedly up for a move away at the end of the season, and United are desperate for his signature.

But reports from M.E.N reveal that the United hierarchy have understood that it will not be easy to negotiate with Daniel Levy, the Tottenham chairman, and are therefore looking elsewhere for possible alternatives.

And as per the same report, Mourinho has halted his search by identifying Chelsea star Nemanja Matic as the ideal candidate.

The Serbian international has been preferred over Cesc Fabregas this season by Antonio Conte, to form a partnership with N’Golo Kante in the middle of the park. But Chelsea are sure to add to their midfield options in the upcoming summer window, which could end up pushing Matic down the pecking order.

And it is now understood that former Blues boss Jose Mourinho is ready for a reunion with the Serbian at Old Trafford.

Matic was a key figure in Mourinho’s second stint at the Bridge, as he was the one who brought him back to England after selling him as a part of the deal to land David Luiz from Benfica back in 2011.

With Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini expected to leave the club, Matic could be first choice at United, and could jump at the opportunity this summer.

Do you think Matic is the right man for United?
