Tottenham Hotspur have beaten Manchester United to the signature of Turkish sensation Cengiz Ünder.

The Red Devils have been busy even with the transfer window a good month away, and have been looking at some of the most exciting players in Europe for a move this summer. They have been linked with potential superstars, and one such player who is now creating huge waves in Europe is Cengiz Ünder.

The 19-year-old currently plays for Turkish Super Lig side Başakşehir, where he signed for just €500,000 last summer from Altinordu. He established himself as a regular in the first team in no time, and has been in impeccable form for the club in all competitions.

The youngster has bagged nine goals and seven assists throughout the campaign, and has been instrumental in what has surprisingly been a productive campaign for the Turkish outfit.

Naturally, the Turkish attacker is being closely monitored by the likes of Manchester United, but it is now understood that Mauricio Pochettino has managed to convince him to join Tottenham instead.

Turkish sports radio station Radyospor have reported that Spurs have been in a dialogue with the Turkish outfit for a long time now, and have finally settled for a bid of £8m, which the Turkish club seems to have accepted already.

This will come as a blow for Manchester United, who will now have to look elsewhere to improve their junior squad.

The young starlet’s promising campaign also handed him his first national cap this campaign, and he is sure to improve as a player in the upcoming season. However, he might not find regular game time in the senior side at the Lane, and might have to wait for his chances.
