Paris Saint-Germain have intervened in between Man United and Monaco’s deal for Monaco star player Fabinho, according to L’Équipe (via GFFN).

Monaco have set a hefty €50m buyout clause for the 23-year-old. With Manchester United hesitant to pay such an amount for the defensive midfielder, it left some space open for other parties to pull their chances in.

It is understood that PSG are very keen on achieving the services of the player, and the Parisian club’s Sporting Director, Antero Henrique, is already in talks with Monaco regarding the move.

The ex-Real Madrid player has a contract which runs out in 2021, further increasing his value on the transfer market.

In the 33 games he has played in Ligue 1 for the champions, he has scored 9 goals and assisted 1 goal. He is particularly famous for his defensive work and is very strong in holding the ball until an opportune moment for a through ball up ahead is awaiting. He is also a very aggressive player, having picked up 8 yellow cards in the league, and in turn, gets tackled often as well.

After starting his career at Portuguese club Rio Ave, he played for both Real Madrid B and Real Madrid on loan, followed by a two-season loan at Monaco. The Ligue 1 outfit were very impressed with his quality and offered him a permanent deal to play at the Stade Louis II, which he seized.

Despite being just 23 years of age, he is already on the radar of several European giants. With the lack of good defensive midfielders, one can expect his value to only soar higher in the market.
