Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand Close To Manchester City Switch
According to Sky Sports News HQ, Manchester City are close to securing their third signing of the transfer window in Ryan Bertrand.
Manchester City have held advanced talks with the Southampton left-back after giving up on signing Monaco’s Benjamin Mendy. Monaco had slapped a hefty £40m price tag on their French defender, which was deemed too high by City boss Pep Guardiola, following which the Spaniard decided to shift focus on signing Bertrand.
Guardiola is already pulling strings to sign Kyle Walker from Tottenham as well, and there is a good chance that both the English full-backs will be playing for Manchester City next season. The Citizens are keen on replenishing their English quota by signing these Englishmen.

City have been the most aggressive side in the transfer window so far, as Guardiola has already gotten rid of Gael Clichy, Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta, Willy Caballero and Jesus Navas. Even in terms of recruiting new players, the Sky Blues have already wrapped up two mega money signings in midfielder Bernardo Silva and goalkeeper Ederson.
Interestingly, Southampton has denied any bids for Bertrand, yet it is believed that negotiations are well underway.
