Alvaro Morata and Manchester United have reportedly finalised a four-year deal that would see the striker bag €48 million gross across the tenure of the contract.
As per reports from Sky Italia (via AS), the Real Madrid forward will earn €12 million per year gross across each of the four years of the deal. However, as reported earlier, United and Madrid are yet to agree on the transfer fee.
Morata’s agent, Juanma Lopez, had a meeting with the club officials at the Bernabeu earlier this week on behalf of United to discuss the deal. The Spanish side demanded an amount far in excess of the €70m, which they were originally believed to be willing to accept for the 24-year-old.
Nonetheless, if a deal with United goes through, it will result in the Spanish international receiving around €2 million more than what he was earning at Madrid.
Also, the Spaniard would be leaving his hometown club for the second time, after parting ways the first time to move to Italy to join Juventus. That switch proved fruitful for the forward, as it saw him win a Scudetto and reach the Champions League final, not to mention getting the international call-up for Spain.
Morata’s move to Old Trafford looks imminent, but before that, a major obstacle that lies in United’s path is the transfer fee that Los Blancos want for their player. But being the big spenders that the Premier League giants are, they would definitely like to close the deal as soon as possible.
