Serie A Transfer News: Roma Eye Italy International
Matteo Darmian seems set to leave Manchester United for the Serie A this summer, as per reports in Italy.
Corriere dello Sport (via Football Italia) claims that the 27-year-old has become one of Roma’s potential targets for the summer, and the club will reportedly attempt to sign the defender in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Darmian had switched to Old Trafford from Torino in the summer of 2015 on a four-year deal, and made 39 appearances during his first season at the club under former boss Louis van Gaal.
However, the versatile Italian defender only started 15 Premier League games under Jose Mourinho last season.
The full-back has been regularly linked with a return to Italian football, with Inter Milan having shown a keen interest to obtain the 27-year-old’s signature. And now, they may face a stiff competition, with Roma also seeking to acquire Darmian’s services.
Roma plan to ask for Darmian on loan, with an option to buy at the end of next season from his current employers Manchester United.
