Top Transfer Rumours Of the Day: Totti, Rooney, Borini, And More

1. Francesco Totti to Tokyo Verde

What’s the story?

Italian legend and King of Rome, Francesco Totti, could well be lining up to face a challenge like never before. If the news and stories are true, the striker could be tempted into extending his career by another year, as Tokyo Verdy, a side from Japan, prepare to offer him a position in their squad for next season.

Should the deal take place?

The player recently ended his illustrious and legendary 25-year career at Roma, and is yet to decide on what his future beholds. The 40-year-old veteran played over 700 games in his career, and was as loyal as anyone can ever be towards his team and the fans that supported him.

However, in the dying phases of his career, the player could be considering a chance to end it all while playing low key matches and doing what he loves. The professional has been a one team man all his life, and despite all the attention, he might not be ready to change that stat for the sake of one last season.

Possibility of it happening

“There has been interest from Totti’s side,” Tokyo Verdy spokesman Yuya Kurabayashi was quoted as saying by AFP.

“The club is looking at ways to raise the money needed to sign the player.”

The possibility of this deal taking place seem to be no higher than that of 4/10.

2. Fabio Borini To Lazio

What’s the story?

Fabio Borini has had a few seasons to forget in his time with Sunderland in the recent past, and as per the Shields Gazette, he could finally be saying goodbye. The striker is all set for an exit away from the Black Cats, with a return to the Serie A, to Lazio, seeming highly likely as each day passes by.

Should the deal take place?

The forward could be taken away on a season-long loan deal with the option of a permanent move next summer in a deal worth up to £6 million. Sunderland are a side that currently seem to be heading towards rock bottom, as they find themselves to be managerless and in a tricky ownership situation.

With Jordan Pickford leaving for Everton and Jermain Defoe mostly heading to Bournemouth, it will make perfect sense for their number 9 to focus on his career and head towards a team with better prospects and higher ambitions.

Possibility of it happening

With AC Milan and Celtic also interested, the competition might be higher than expected, but Lazio seem confident of landing their target and hence, 7/10 chances for the deal to take place.

What’s the story?

Sky Sports might have brought along good news for Manchester United fans, as they claimed that club captain, Wayne Rooney, could stay with the team for the season to come, by agreeing to a certain set of terms and conditions under Jose Mourinho.

This rumour came about when Ryan Giggs, former Old Trafford icon and legend, spoke to Sky sources and said: “It is whether he can put up with not being first choice or whether he can develop his game which I had to around the same age, not being certain to play every game, but playing 25-30 games and contributing. If Wayne can do that then I don’t see why he can’t still be at the club.”

Should the deal take place?

The player is currently England and Manchester United’s top goalscorer, and given his legendary status with both teams, his heart might not be ready to leave the Red Devils just yet. However, with the World Cup to come next year and Mourinho barely offering the skipper reasonable game time, moving on might make more sense for a player of his calibre.

Possibility of it happening

The chances of Wayne staying seem slim at the moment, with them being 5/10.

4. Naby Keita To Liverpool

What’s the story?

Naby Keita has a release clause worth £48 million, which sees the player become active next summer, but if reports from BILD (via Liverpool Echo) are believed to be true, then Jurgen Klopp is gunning to bring the midfielder to Anfield during this year’s transfer window itself. The 22-year-old will cost the Reds around £70m, turning him into one of the most expensive players around, and doubling the Merseyside club’s spending this season.

Should the deal take place?

Liverpool have finally returned to the Champions League after a long break, and Klopp is eager to make a fist out of it by building a team that is strong, fast, and full of aggressive and creative players of the highest order. His side has already signed Mohamed Salah from Roma, and reeling in one of the best midfielders of the Bundesliga last season might prove to be the difference between the English team turning from underdogs into real contenders for silverware next season.

Possibility of it happening

The Guinean international has had only one good season in European football so far, and cashing in on him with such huge amounts might be a risk that can go either way of extremely good or extremely stupid. However, with Oxlade Chamberlain also being a target for Liverpool, the possibility of Keita coming is currently 6/10.
