Marquinhos, who had been heavily linked with a move to Premier League giants Manchester United, after Jose Mourinho had launched a massive £62 million bid to bring the 23-year-old to Old Trafford, has now put an end to any kind of speculation surrounding his future.
Along with the Red Devils, European heavyweights, including the likes of Barcelona and Juventus, were also keeping an eye on the Brazil international.
As per the club’s official website, Marquinhos said: “I have always said I’m happy to play for Paris Saint-Germain, and this contract extension is further proof of my commitment to the Club.
“I feel very good at this club and with this group of players whom I am with every day. I have found here the perfect place to flourish and hope to win many more trophies. Over the last four years, I have been able to gauge the progress made at Paris Saint-Germain, which has notably enabled me to get into the national team.
“I’m really looking forward to starting pre-season ahead of a new campaign with my team-mates and to give the best of myself so that our team continues to make our fans proud in the coming months.”

The club’s chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, added: “Marquinhos’ contract extension brings me great satisfaction. As well as being a fantastic player, Marquinhos is an extremely nice guy and always has a great attitude.
“Since he arrived in Paris, Marquinhos has developed a very strong relationship with our club, the fans and the city whose colours we proudly wear.
“In four years, he has continually grown in our team and we have seen him become, little by little, one of the best defenders in the world, even though he is still very young. Marquinhos deeply believes in Paris Saint-Germain’s ability to satisfy his ambitions and take him to the summit of international football.”
This deal follows the contract extensions signed by other PSG stars, viz. striker Edinson Cavani, and defenders Thiago Silva and Presnel Kimpembe.
