If you have arguably the best player in the world in your ranks, you will do everything possible to keep him from leaving, and that is exactly the case with FC Barcelona and their main man, Lionel Messi.
During every single summer transfer window, the Argentine is subject to a move away from the La Liga giants, and despite the huge interest and capabilities of the clubs to sign him, the little magician always stays put.
Be it tax fraud allegations, poor team performances, irresistible offers, or ground breaking bids on the table, nothing has ever been enough to release Lionel Messi from the grip of the Catalan club.
The player was in the news off late as he was linked to various sides across Europe, and just when anxiety started to kick in, all nerves were settled by Barcelona, as they confirmed that the 5-time Ballon D’Or winner will be staying at the club he loves till 2021.
The team announced the news by releasing a video thanking the Argentine for his contributions so far and hinting at how the best might remarkably be yet to come.
The club’s website further released a statement, which read: ‘The deal will be signed in the coming weeks, when Messi returns to the team for pre-season training.”
The extension of the contract will most happily be accepted by new manager, Ernesto Valverde, who is eager to arrive at the Spanish club and bring them back to the top after a poor 2016-17 campaign.
With Messi in the team, greatness is always around the corner, and that is certainly what Barcelona fans can look forward to in the near future.
