Diego Costa may be unwanted by manager Antonio Conte at Premier League champions Chelsea, but the prolific forward has garnered a lot of attention from the fans of Turkish club Besiktas. The Spaniard became subject of a bizarre social media trend, where the club’s supporters flooded in with requests of joining their team.
Costa has become part of social media trend in the past three days, with a simple post on social media site, Instagram, where a post featuring him and his friend Petros Araujo attracting record amount of comments.
Footballer Petros is a Brazilian midfielder, who joined Sao Paolo from Real Betis last month, and the post featuring the duo has gained close to 2 million comments from fans.
The vast majority of comments featured the words: “Come to Besiktas”. This post has gained the most number of comments on a social media site this year.
There is no direct link between the striker and the Turkish club, as he is vying for a move away from Chelsea this summer. Manager Antonio Conte is ready to do away with the player, who is looking to join Spanish club Atletico Madrid. The Champions League semi-finalists have a transfer ban on them until January.
Should Costa join Les Rojiblancos, he will have to be loaned out until the start of 2018, and Besiktas fans want him to feature for them, giving him a hope to appear in the side’s colours. The Turkish Champions’ fans displayed their bizarre love to show Costa that he is a wanted man.
