OFFICIAL: Bayern Munich Announce James Rodriguez Signing
Bayern Munich have announced the signing of Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez on a two-year loan deal.
The Colombian captain will have a medical with the reigning Bundesliga Champions before reuniting with former Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti, who signed him from Monaco back in 2014.
The transfer, which could be made permanent in the summer of 2019, ends Rodriguez’ nightmare spell under Zinedine Zidane, who only used the 25-year-old 22 times in La Liga last season.
Upon the confirmation of the deal, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the club’s official website: “We’re delighted we’ve been able to complete this transfer. Signing James Rodríguez was our coach Carlo Ancelotti’s biggest wish, following their successful spell working together in Madrid.
“James is a very versatile player. He’s a goalscorer himself, he sets up a lot of goals and on top of that he’s great from set-pieces. There’s no question that this transfer further increases the quality in our team.”
The playmaker has been included in the Bayern squad that sets off on Sunday evening for the 12-day Audi Summer Tour to China and Singapore.
