Chelsea are set to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko in a £40 million deal, reports Sky Sports

The transfer episode involving Bakayoko and Chelsea will finally be over this week, as the French midfielder is expected to arrive in London for a medical soon.

The Blues have been actively pursuing a deal for Bakayoko over the last few months, and now, they seem to have reached an agreement with Monaco.

The 22-year-old box-to-box midfielder was expected to join Chelsea much sooner, but a complication with the player’s knee surgery prevented the deal from being done early. However, Bakayoko is now deemed fit for having a medical with Chelsea without the need to undergo a surgery.

The Frenchman played a crucial part in pleasantly surprising feats that Monaco achieved under coach Leonardo Jardim, as the player made a total of 51 appearances across all competitions.

Jardim’s side, remarkably, stunned the habitual Ligue 1 winners PSG by winning the domestic title, and also gained high praise for their heroics in Champions League, where they made it into the semi-finals.

The anticipated arrival of Bakayoko at the Stamford Bridge is also seen as the end of the road for Nemanja Matic, who is heavily linked with a move to Manchester United. However, Conte is extremely reluctant to do business with Jose Mourinho because of Chelsea’s debacle in Lukaku’s pursuit at the hands of the Red Devils.
