Chelsea Ready To Splash The Cash For Gonzalo Higuain
Chelsea have submitted an incredible bid of £88 million for Juventus star Gonzalo Higuain, according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport.
As per the latest reports, Chelsea have made an offer for Higuain in an attempt to replace Diego Costa at Stamford Bridge. The Blues initially considered Everton main-man Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement, before Jose Mourinho secured the Belgian’s services.
Though Antonio Conte is furious at missing out on the opportunity to bring Lukaku to West London, the Italian was quick to make amends by attempting to sign Higuain. The bid was submitted around 10 days ago, and the £88 million offer shows the Blues boss means business this time.
The Serie A champions signed the lethal goalscorer from Napoli for a sum of £75.3 million, making the Argentine international the fourth most-expensive signing of all time.

The star striker had a vital role in the Italian giants’ immense success last season, as he scored 32 goals in all competitions and helped them lift the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia, and played a part in their journey to the final of the Champions League, where they were beaten by Real Madrid.
Meanwhile, the Premier League champions have also been in talks with the Serie A giants for a possible move for defender Alex Sandro.
Ironically, reports have surfaced from Italy, claiming that Juventus director Beppe Marotta has rejected the offer for Higuain, and insists the 29-year-old is not for sale. But Chelsea might submit an improved deal nonetheless, so as to lure the striker to England.
Conte has already wrapped up the deal for Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko for a reported fee of £40 million. On the other hand, though, Diego Costa and Nemanja Matic have been omitted from the Italian’s pre-season squad, and look set to leave Stamford Bridge.
The former Real Madrid man could be a lethal addition to Conte’s ranks, alongside Eden Hazard and Pedro. Talks are ongoing, and Chelsea will be hoping to seal a deal as swiftly as possible.
