Mesut Ozil is ready to commit his future to Arsenal, with a £280,000-per-week offer on the table.

The Gunners are believed to have made a breakthrough with their star playmaker in the most recent negotiations. Ozil, just like Alexis Sanchez, just has one year remaining on his current contract with Arsenal.

However, as per the Daily Mail, the German world cup winner is now much closer to extending his contract than the Chilean attacker, who is wanted by a host of clubs.

Ozil, who is away on Arsenal’s pre-season tour far east, spoke positively about his chances of signing a new deal at the Emirates. The 28-year-old faced reporters in Australia, where he confirmed his intention of signing a new deal in the coming days.

Since then, contract negotiations have really taken off, with reports of a lucrative £280,000-per-week deal being agreed upon by the involved parties.

It’s believed that the German wizard’s admiration for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, and the lack of interest from other top clubs, has contributed to his decision of extending his contract with the London-based outfit.

Unlike Sanchez, who has interest from clubs PSG, Chelsea, and City, Ozil has failed to attract offers from European heavyweights.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will hope that Ozil’s contract extension might also tempt Sanchez to sign a new deal. Wenger is wary of the strong interest in Sanchez, but the Frenchman has clearly indicated that the Chilean superstar will not be sold under any circumstances this summer.
