The Chilean forward is currently in the final year of his Arsenal contract, and has expressed his desire to leave the Gunners for pastures anew.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, however, has remained firm on his stance of holding on to the mercurial winger. The Frenchman was quoted as saying: “The decision has been made and we will stick to that. The decision is not to sell.”
However, it would be extremely difficult to keep hold of the former Barcelona man against his desires. Manchester City are also reported to be interested in the 28-year-old, and the Gunners would rather sell him to PSG instead of their direct rivals.
Sanchez, on the other hand, has made it clear that he wants to play in the Champions League – something that Arsenal cannot provide him with this season. The London-based outfit missed out on a Champions League spot after finishing 5th in the Premier League last season.
If PSG are about to pull off the signings of Neymar and Sanchez, it would be one of the biggest double swoops in the history of the beautiful game. And while the lure of Champions League might bring Sanchez to the Parc des Princes, it is very unlikely that Arsenal’s hierarchy will accept a meagre sum of £35m.
