Revealed: What Mourinho Said To Bale In The Tunnel
Jose Mourinho was very welcoming of his former club Real Madrid in the tunnel before the friendly match in USA. The Portuguese’s Manchester United side emerged victorious in the penalties in their pre-season friendly against Real Madrid, but it was Jose’s candid talk with Gareth Bale that has got the fans talking.
The former Real Madrid manager welcomed each and every player and staff of Los Blancos in the tunnel before the match started, but the Portuguese reserved special pep talk for Gareth Bale.
Mourinho walked up to the Welsh star and said (via Canalfutbolista.com): “I can’t buy you because you don’t talk to me!” The duo then shared a smile, as the winger walked out of the tunnel to get on the field.
Bale has been linked with a transfer to Manchester United on numerous occasions during the last four years. Despite Mourinho dismissing a transfer approach for the Wales international in this window, it’s easy to comprehend that the Portuguese tactician is a fan of the player.
Mourinho was earlier quizzed about a possible transfer bid for Bale, to which the manager replied: “No, because you have contacts, you have feelings, you understand things. I think it was clear that Bale likes Madrid, likes the challenge, likes the situation.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United continue to be linked with Inter’s Ivan Perisic, as Mourinho seeks to add a winger to his squad.
