Mourinho Concedes Defeat In The Pursuit Of Major Midfield Target
Jose Mourinho is trying his best to finalize all the transfer well before the start of the season, but the Manchester United boss has had another setback in his pursuit of a prime transfer target.
When the Red Devils completed the signing of Victor Lindelof early in the transfer window, it was thought that United would enjoy a smooth transfer window in terms of recruiting new players, but it hasn’t been the case.
Mourinho has since added a heavyweight signing in the form of Romelu Lukaku, but the Portuguese tactician has also witnessed failure in securing targets like Nemanja Matic, Ivan Perisic, and Fabinho.
The former Chelsea coach had identified Matic as the ideal candidate to bolster his midfield, but his recent bad blood with the Blues has seen his efforts of signing the Serbian end in vain.

As a result, Eric Dier of Tottenham emerged as the next best possible transfer target for Manchester United, but Mourinho seems to have written off this transfer too, whilst speaking in a recent press conference ahead of his team’s friendly match against Barcelona in USA.
When asked about his team’s transfers, Jose replied: “Everybody speaks about the dimension of the investment at Man City, but Tottenham is a team that I feel the dimension of their investment is phenomenal. I think until now they spent zero pounds. They keep Dele Alli, Harry Kane, Toby Alderweireld, Dier, everyone they want to keep.”
Mourinho had earlier made it clear that he still intends to bring in two more players to Old Trafford before the season starts. It would be interesting to see the superstars the Manchester United boss manages to recruit, after having already missed out on a number of his ideal targets.

I think Jose Mourinho should personally talk to targets and negiciate eventual transfers.
