AC Milan Refuse To Rule Out A Reunion With Ibrahimovic
Legendary striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to rule the transfer market as a free agent, as he is still nursing a knee injury following his release from Premier League giants Manchester United.
The Swedish international, who has played for top European sides throughout his club career, holds interest from Italian powerhouse AC Milan. Zlatan spent two seasons at the San Siro before moving to Paris Saint-Germain, and there is a possibility that could see the charismatic striker re-sign for the 7-time Champions League winners.
According to reports in Sport Mediaset, Milan’s sporting director, Massimo Mirabelli, has stated that there is a chance for the veteran forward to make a return. When asked about Zlatan, Mirabelli said: “Ibrahimovic? In life, never say never. Maybe an old acquaintance of ours could come back.”
Zlatan had a productive time at Old Trafford, scoring 28 goals across all competitions under manager Jose Mourinho last season, as he went on to win three trophies with the club. A horrible knee injury in the Europa League ruled him out for the final phase of the season, and he is expected to make a return to competitive football by end of the year.
A lot of European and American clubs are interested in the services of the 36-year-old warhorse, but reports have stated earlier that United could offer him a new deal, as Jose feels he could play a vital role on and off the field in the second half of the season.
On the other hand, Mirabelli does not want to be too enthusiastic regarding Zlatan, as he added that the Italian giants have their feet on the ground, as they will evaluate things after August 15. He stated: “I don’t want to hint at Ibra, that’s not the case. We have our feet on the ground. We’ll evaluate the things that we have to do after August 15.”
Milan have been very busy in the transfer window, having signed a host of players, including a sensational move for Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus. The Serie A outfit looks desperate to find its way back to the top, after several years of wilderness.
With a long season ahead of them that includes participation in the Europa League, the Rossoneri will be eager to make their mark from the start and have a positive impact on Zlatan for him to consider a reunion with the club.
