Rio Ferdinand believes that the Red Devils would have pulled off a ‘dirty’ move if they had beaten Paris Saint-Germain in signing Neymar.

Neymar, who moved to Parc des Princes this summer in a world record transfer of £196 million, was previously linked to make a switch to Old Trafford, according to different reports.

And, while talking on channel Five, Ferdinand discussed how landing Neymar could have been the icing on the cake following the signings of Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic, and Victor Lindelof, but it would have been a ‘dirty’ move.

Ferdinand said: “Neymar’s up for £196 million… Man United are one of the richest clubs in the world. I would have loved to have seen him go to Manchester United. Neymar in a red Man United shirt? Number 7, woah, or number 11. Dirty, it would have been dirty but it wasn’t to be.”

United had re-signed Paul Pogba from Juventus for £89.3 million when they broke the world transfer record last summer. And though the Brazilian starlet has doubled that fee, Mourinho thought that Neymar wasn’t expensive for 200 million.
