Top Transfer Rumours Of The Day: De Gea, Draxler, Sakho, And More

1. David De Gea To Real Madrid

What’s the story?

What goes around comes around, and similar is the case with Real Madrid’s chase of David De Gea. After eyeing a move for the Spaniard since the past 2 seasons and coming within minutes of getting their man, reports from the Sun suggest that Zidane’s side have renewed their interest in the shot-stopper this summer. The Champions League and La Liga winners are yet to make a mega signing this window and De Gea has come out on top, as the man to become exactly that.

Should the deal take place?

The Manchester United number 1 is currently the world’s best goalkeeper alongside Manuel Neuer, and is thus, the perfect addition to a Madrid side full of winners and champions. However, Jose Mourinho is man with a plan this season, and if lifting titles is a part of it, then convincing his keeper to stay has to be the first step towards achieving it. The Red Devils seem hell-bent on keeping hold of their player between the posts, and with the Spanish side offering simply £46 million, a deal seems far away from coming to life.

Possibility of it happening

The chances of David De Gea heading to Real Madrid are currently 2/10.

2. Mamadou Sakho To West Brom

What’s the story?

According to reports mentioned by Sky Sports, Mamadou Sakho is now a priority target for West Brom this summer, as they look for ways to strengthen their defence for the new season. The player has emerged as a potential transfer after rumours of Jonny Evans heading to Manchester City have grown stronger with each passing day.

Should the deal take place?

Tony Pulis is a manager known for building sides with a steady and formidable defence. Sakho had a roller coaster of a season last year, after being initially kicked out of Liverpool’s squad during pre-season. However, it did end with him joining Crystal Palace and being named their player of the campaign. The defender is brilliant when it comes to positional play and winning the ball back through tackling, but high wages and a history of poor behaviour might not go down well with Pulis and his firm ideologies of obedience.

Possibility of it happening

The chances of Sakho heading to the Hawthorns are currently 5/10.

3. Julian Draxler To Barcelona

What’s the story?

Julian Draxler has had a horrible start to life at PSG, and might see that coming to an abrupt end this summer. According to numerous sources including that of Mundo Deportivo, the player might be leaving France this month, as he is being prepared to be offered to La Liga giants, Barcelona.

Should the deal take place?

Ironically, the arrival of Neymar from the Nou Camp has put the final nail in Draxler’s PSG career, and heading to Spain might help him fill a gap that is big and desperately awaiting an arrival. With the Coutinho and Dembele deals falling apart, the young winger comes as a fresh ray of hope for the Catalan club, and might solve a few problems that are evidently troubling Ernesto Valverde and his squad.

Possibility of it happening

The possibility of Draxler heading to Barcelona is currently 6/10.

4. Shkodran Mustafi To Inter Milan

What’s the story?

As mentioned by Gianluca Di Marzio, Inter Milan have apparently opened talks with Arsenal over a possible loan move for centre-back Shkodran Mustafi. The move does come across as being ambitious, but the Italian side is desperate to tighten up its back line before the window closes, and who better than a world cup winner to do so?

Should the deal take place?

Mustafi had an irregular season at the Emirates last year, and will be hoping for a solid run of games and consistent performances this time around. Wenger is currently under enormous pressure to bring his team back to the top, and selling one of his best defenders while doing so might not be the best idea out there. Furthermore, the sale of Gabriel Paulista to Valencia means that the Gunners will need all the defenders they have to stay put, in order to survive a ridiculously tough season ahead.

Possibility of it happening

The chances of the German moving to Italy are no higher than that of 3/10 right now.
