Premier League giants Manchester City are preparing a massive bid for Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi, as per reports.

The Citizens have been very active in the transfer window this summer, and have already brought in the likes of Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, Ederson, Bernardo Silva, and Danilo, but as it appears, manager Pep Guardiola could be making one last move for the five time Ballon d’Or winner.

As per Yahoo Sport France‘s journalist Romain Collet-Gaudin, City have already made a very bold statement by saying that they will buy the Argentine, and are ready to meet Messi’s release clause. This source tweeted: “Manchester City are going to buy Leo Messi.”

Messi, who has a gigantic €300m release clause in his current contract, is yet to sign a renewal deal with Barcelona, which was scheduled to take place after the star had returned to the club for pre-season training.

The club’s official statement read: “The deal will be signed in the coming weeks, when Messi returns to the team for pre-season training.”

However, it was confirmed last week that no new deal has been signed by the Argentina international, and according to Daily Record, Messi “is seriously considering leaving. He is open to a move, but knowing the player it will take him a while to decide.”

It was also reported that the City officials have met with Messi’s representatives to discuss the move, and have given the Argentine an open invitation to reunite with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad. And the thing that further intensifies the current situation is that the 30-year-old started following Manchester City on Instagram.

Messi, who is familiar with Pep Guardiola’s tactics after having played under him at the Camp Nou, could possibly be heading towards the exit door. But with just a couple of weeks left for the summer transfer window to end, City would have to react fast if they wish to bring Messi to the Etihad this summer.
