Chelsea might have acquired the services of Alvaro Morata, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping them from splashing the cash to bring in yet another striker. If reports are to be believed, the Blues are set to make a move for Torino’s Andrea Belotti.

TransferMarkt claims that Antonio Conte is ready to go on a spending spree as the transfer window draws to a close, and try and trigger Belotti’s £91m release clause.

In fact, Torino President Urbano Cairo has himself hinted that their star striker could be on his way out of Turin. “Will he remain at Torino next season? I honestly don’t know,” he was quote as saying.

£91m might look like an insane amount of money for someone who is yet to establish himself on the continental scene. However, the young Italian is only 23 years old, and has a proven track record of scoring in the much defence-minded Serie A.

His current club has set the record straight, as they have made it pretty clear that they would not entertain any kind of negotiations for the sale of the Italian. Incidentally, Chelsea themselves had three of their previous bids rejected by the Italian outfit, as they were unwilling to meet the forward’s release clause.

Belotti is undoubtedly one of the most promising young strikers in Europe as of now. He has shown, at the beginning of his career, that he has both the skills and the mettle to perform at a top club in Europe. Needless to say, he would be a valuable addition to a Chelsea side that is looking to dominate in three different competitions.

If all the stars align perfectly, the Italy international could become the perfect striking partner for Alvaro Morata. The duo could surely forge a fearsome partnership.

However, one thing that Chelsea should remember is that they haven’t always had luck with their strikers. They should perhaps take some lessons out of the failed campaigns of star strikers like Fernando Torres and Andriy Shevchenko, and play their cards wisely.
